Charitable Contributions 2004

Money Makes The world Go 'round

In 2004 members of the UAW contributed through the Local over $60,300.00. Recipients of this assistance include organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund and Heartwalk. Individuals found to be in dire need of immediate assistance received just over $6500.00. Additionally, members contributed through payroll deduction $219,285 to United Way.

More than money is needed to keep life moving.

 We also donated items of value to ensure that folks who are less fortunate are cared for. In 2004 we sponsored 150 children through the DHS Adopt A Child program. The Winter Coat Drive received 80 coats. We donated 848 units of blood. Publicity for worthy programs is important the Local publicized DHS Foster Care, The Spiritual Walk for Peace, Avon-USO Care Packages, Atomic Veterans Radiation Exposure, Church at the Mall Parking Lot Concert, Interfaith Prayer Service in commemoration of 9/11/2001, Texas Hold 'em and Black Jack Benefit Poker Tournament, Targeted blood donations, Letter Carriers Food Drive, the Heartwalk and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade and many others. We also gave of our time. Volunteer hours can make non-profit organizations much more effective. Our members worked in supporting the DHS, the VA, the Oklahoma Veterans Council, the Letter Carriers Food Drive, Heartwalk and other organizations, such as the American Red Cross.
